Jason Smith Obituary

Jason Bernard Smith was born September 5, 1983 in Florence, Alabama to Gennie Boddie (Lamond) Byrd and Isaiah Coffey, Jr.

He accepted Christ at the age of 10 and was baptized and received the Holy Spirit at Abundant Life Church in Huntsville, Alabama under the leadership Pastor Marty Adams. Later he moved to Florence, Alabama with his mother and joined New Birth Ministries.

Jason attended Forest Hill School and performed the viola in the orchestra. He moved to Michigan with his parents and joined the Band and Performance at Carnegie Hall in NYC. After graduating from High School, he studied Political Science at Boys State. He loved Performing Arts and music, where he became a ball room dance instructor at Eastern Michigan University. His love for dancing landed him a job at Disney Land in Anaheim, California for almost 9 years. Jason performed in Atlanta, Germany, Australia, Tennessee, and California. He moved back home to Florence, Alabama to be with family and friends. After being cleared by the State Board, he became a mentor at Sequel until his passing.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his parents, brother, Charles A Smith, Jr., sister, Alisa T. Smith, his beloved niece, Lia D. Smith, his blended family: sister, Margo Byrd, Tammie (Hamed) Elfadili, Bridget Byrd and brother, Lamond Byrd, Jr., three special uncles and a lifetime friend- Emery.
