Obituary

Mr. Percy Lee King was born on September 23, 1951, to the late Lula L. Welch and the late Willie Hampton.

Percy served his country and finished his duties as a United States Marine in 1977. Later, he went to work for Smithsonian Institution in 1977, where he retired in 2009.

He peacefully entered eternal rest on Thursday, August 24, 2023.

He Leaves to cherish his memories:

A loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Evelyn King of Sheffield, AL; one son, Corey Pride of Sheffield, AL; two stepdaughters, Dionne Brown and Robin Brown of Washington, DC; five sisters, Linda Abernathy, Vicki McCoy, Louise Whitson, Danette Thompson (All of Sheffield, AL);  Marilyn King of Jacksonville, FL; Linda Jenkins and Shirley Beard of Detroit, MI; two brothers, Darry welch of Sheffield, AL; Willie Hampton of Detroit, MI; one aunt, Elizabeth Davis of Houston, Texas; 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
