Percy Conrodee Harris was born April 4, 1941, to the late Louie Harris, Sr., and Mary Alice Harris. He confessed Christ at an early age and was a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Town Creek, Alabama.
He was a police officer in Chicago for several years. After moving back to Alabama, he started working for General Motors in Decatur, Alabama for over 30 years until he retired. He was a great father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to many. He was a good, kind-hearted person who didn’t mind helping anyone. Everyone loved him. He will be missed but the knowledge he gave others will live on.
Percy was proceeded in death by his parents, Louie Harris, Sr., and Mary Alice Harris; brothers, Louie Harris, Jr., Hartselle Harris, Sr., Leamon Harris, and George Harris; sisters, Mary Harris, Susie Mae Perkins, and Corine Hawkins; one daughter, Deonne Brown-Bada.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife, Dessie Harris of Town Creek, AL; three sons, Percy (Pam) Mitchell of Texas, Kennedy (Jacqueline) Byrd of Courtland, AL, and Rashad Harris of Decatur, AL; three daughters, Judy Harris of Houston, TX, Katrina Brown of Texas, and Lilia (James) Garner of Muscle Shoals, AL; one stepdaughter, Vita Brown of Town Creek, AL; a host of grandchildren: Tanisha Moore, Quicy Colston, Sharnise L. Mitchell, Percy D. L. Mitchell, Devin J. Mitchell, Starr Brown, Diamond Brown, Mallori Hicks, Sultan Bada, Jamiyla Harris, King Harris, Da'moni Harris, Greyson Harris, Erimas Harris, Kennedi Byrd, Darius Garner, and Jamaricus Garner and great grandchildren; two sisters, Hattie Sanders of Town Creek, AL and Ruby (Matthew) Torian of Decatur, AL; two brothers-in-law, Frank Brown and Willie Fred Brown, both of Florence, AL; two sisters-in-law, Leria Foster and Francy Horrison, both of Florence, AL; a very special niece, Teresa Harris; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
