Ms. Odessie “Boot” Thompson was born May 15, 1939, in Florence, Alabama, to the late Laura Alice & Paul Thompson, Sr.
She departed this earthly life in the early hours on July 27, 2025. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of the Rock Primitive Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Billy E. Brewton.
Odessie was employed for many years in the housekeeping and hospitality industry. She retired from Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was educated in the Florence City School System.
She was the purest form of genuine goodness and a truly selfless individual who blessed every life that she touched. Her generosity and loyalty and kindness to both her family and friends will forever be engraved in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Laura & Paul Thompson Sr.; son, Larry “Cookie” Thompson; grandson, Demarcus Harrison; siblings, Etta Mae Johnson, Charles Willie, and Donald William Thompson; one sister-in-law, Josephine Thompson; brothers-in-law, Samuel Johnson, Willie Chandler, Sr., and William Noel; and dear friend, Walter “Bud” Hill.
She leaves to cherish her beautiful memories:
Children, Sophia (Zachary) Harts, Detra, Clifton, Edith Thompson, Kandra (Kris) Carter; grandchildren, Eric Cole, Demarcus Thompson Sr., Rickus Beckwith, Tiffany Tucker, Jemeil Amlet, and Lil Ms. Karley Carter; 21 grandchildren; siblings, Gladys Chandler, Sheron Noel, Retricia, Robert Sr., and Paul Thompson, Jr.; two aunts, Jennie (Funrow) Cole and Betty Johnson of Bellwood, Illinois; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
