Obie Diah Gholston was born on July 28, 1949 in Franklin County, Alabama, to the late Obie Diah Gholston, Sr., and Ludie McCulloch Gholston.
He accepted Christ at a young age, and joined Antioch C.M.E. Church in Russellville, Alabama. He attended Tharptown High School in Tharptown, Alabama, He worked as a Dietary Aide at Russellville Hospital for over over 40 years.
Obie Diah was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Rosie Smith Gholston, brothers and sisters in law: Mack McCullough, John Russell, Bryce McCulloch, Helen Dixon and Eddie Smith.
Obie Diah is survived by his children: Melanie Gholston, David Gholston and Valerie (Walter) Ricks; grandchildren: Sh-nia Hughes, Tamarian Acklin and DeAndre Acklin; sisters: Mae Ellis of Russellville, Alabama, Linda (Charles) Saxton of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Nellie Warren of Russellville, Alabama, and Mary Gholston of Russellville, Alabama, sisters in law: Clara Bell McCullough and Ann T. McCullough both of Russellville, Alabama, Vinson Smith and Mattie Russell both of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Mary Smith of Waukegan, Illinois, Jerry (Willie) Smith, of Zion, Illinois, Ida Suggs of Sheffield, Alabama and a devoted nephew, Jerry Ellis of Akron, Ohio and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Mr. Gholston transitioned from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at Russellville Hospital in Russellville, Alabama. We are asking that you please keep the Gholston Family in your prayers.
