Oakley June Yates Jr. “OJ”, the son of the late Oakley June Sr. and Bertha Lee Yates, entered this world on April 2, 1972, in Lawrence County, Alabama. He departed his earthly life on December 15, 2022, at North Alabama Medical Center in Florence, Alabama
He confessed hope in Christ at an early age. He was a member of First M.B. Church of Town Creek.
He was a loving, devoted and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle. Oakley also was a family-oriented person, he cherished his grandchildren and he was a forever friend to many. His formative years taught him the meaning of love and caring for others. He loved life and he lived it to the fullest.
In addition, to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his Brother, Percy Yates, Sister, Marolyn Orr, Father-in-Law, Winfred Lee Seals, nephew Gus Yates Jr., and sister-in-law, Vonda Simmons.
Oakley leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and devoted wife of 14 years Segrid Yates of Leighton, AL, his four daughters Pornesha (Brandon) Armstead of Muscle Shoals, AL, Yeshea (Jevin) Harden of Birmingham, AL, Zonique (Quinntavion) Yates of Anniston, AL, Jayla (Qawaan) Ashley of Decatur, Georgia; six grandchildren, Brandon Armstead Jr., A’zia Armstead, Bryson Armstead, Eliza Elston, Ivy Elston, and King Cohen; four sisters, Rosie (Henry) Brown Sr. of Decatur AL, Doris (Ralph) Stanley Sr. of Courtland, AL, Darriell Bryd of Courtland, AL, and Jacqueline (Clarence) Parham of Courtland, AL; his loving mother-in-law Juanita Seals of Town Creek, AL; three sisters-in-law, Lolieta Simmons of Town Creek, AL, Melissa Madden (Damond) Gildon of Town Creek, AL Rhonda Jackson of Elkins AR; three brothers-in-law, Duane Seals of Town Creek, AL, Charles Bynum of Decatur, AL and Tony Ross of Bolingbrook, IL; Uncle, Buford (Jean) Yates; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives.
