Mattie Florencey Fuqua, the daughter of the
late Joe Fuqua and Caroline Bowens Fuqua was
born on July 15, 1940, in Lauderdale County,
Florence, Alabama. Miss Mattie exchanged the
busy works of the world for eternal rest on May 7,
2019 at North Alabama Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three
brothers-Charles Nance, Forest Nance, Royce
Nance; sisters Mary Howell, Velma Marie Roach,
Willie Mae Fuqua, Joyce Ann Webster, and Mollie
Johnson.
She confessed her faith in Christ at an early age at
Petersville Baptist Church in Florence, where she
was a member. She received her education from
West End High School. She lovingly cared for and
nurtured four generations of family members.
In loving memory, Mattie will forever be cherished
by her loving and devoted children: daughter Joyce
Goodman of Sheffield, Alabama, Susan Patton
of Florence, Alabama, son; Rodney Fuqua of
Florence, Alabama and Monica Fuqua of Muscle
Shoals, Alabama; one sister Pearlene Fuquaof
Florence, Alabama; one brother Earl Jo Fuqua
(Pattie) Lima, Ohio, and one sister in-law; Clara
Nance of Winchester, Kentucky; six grandchildren
Brian Fuqua, Rameka Fuqua, Direcus Fuqua,
Manquaita Brown, Latora Goodman and Rodney
Goodman, five great grandchildren, and a host of
nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Ms. Fuqua will lie in the sanctuary one hour prior to the funeral service. Reverend Demetres Towns, Pastor
