Mary Katherine Bailey King was born May 26, 1936, in Tuscumbia, Alabama, to the late Willie Perkins and Rosie West. She departed to her heavenly home on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Keller Landing in Tuscumbia, Alabama.
Mary dedicated her life to Christ and was a faithful member of Mt. Olievia Missionary Baptist Church in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. She was a member of the Senior Choir, and she also served on the usher board at Mt. Olievia.
She retired from Colbert County Head Start. Mrs. King loved fashion and traveling. Mary was affectionately known as the “Avon Lady.” She also enjoyed fellowshipping at the Colbert County Senior Center.
Mary was preceded in death by her brother Arthur Gunn and sister Wylodean Mitchell.
She leaves to cherish her memories:
her loving and devoted husband of 72 years, David King of Muscle Shoals, AL; son, Quinton (Dora) Bailey of Saginaw, Michigan; brother, Willie West; a devoted granddaughter, Cassandra Bailey; granddaughters, Avis, Cynthia, Bre, Kendra, Aerrianna, and Aaliyah; Ten great-grandchildren; Three great-great grandchildren; a special niece and cousin, Vonda Whiteside of Florence, AL; and a host of family and friends.
