Martha Ellen Mitchell Qualls was born on January 10, 1964, to the late Jake Mitchell, Sr., and Martha L. Simmons Mitchell. She departed her earthly life on February 6, 2022, at North Alabama Medical Center in Florence, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Curtis Mitchell, Jake Mitchell, Jr., Frankie Mitchell, and William Mitchell; sisters, Hattie Sue Mitchell and Gearline Mitchell; and sisters-in-law, Gleria Mitchell and Marilyn Mitchell. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Red Bank Missionary Baptist Church and later moved her membership to St. James Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully until her death. She worked at several plant jobs: Pilgrims Pride, Decatur Plastics, and Waynes Farm. She retired from Wayne Farm in 2007. She leaves to cherish her memories: two sons, Richard Shoulders, Jr., and Gary (Fallon) Hampton; nine grandchildren, ShaKarie Hampton, Mariaea Pride, Jada Hampton, Jaylen Jones, Ablessyn Hampton, Shaniya Hampton, Garrison Hampton, Zuri Hill, and Aiyden Hill; three sisters, Janie L. Mitchell, Lucy Mitchell, and Louise Merriweather; one brother, Raymond Martha Ellen Mitchell Qualls Mitchell; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
