Mrs. Maple King was born on August 19, 1925,
to the late W.B and Annie Lewis King, in Colbert County,
Alabama. She departed this life on May 17, 2019, at her place
of residence. Maple accepted Christ as her personal savior at an
early age, and joined Galilee M.B. Church, Leighton, Alabama.
She loved her church, and she was a faithful and dedicated
church member. She sang in the choir and was a member of
the Friendly Christian Club and Missionary Society, until her
health failed. She was united in holy matrimony in January
1945 to Mr. Columbus Little, who preceded her in death. To
this union, eleven children were born.
She was preceded in death by six children: Jean Nell Little,
Mable Lean Little, Joyce Little, Annie Ozella Little, Charles
Little Brown, and Oscar Little; granddaughter, Iris Little;
great-grandson, Robert T. Sadler, IV; and her brother, Arthur
Montgomery (Mon) King.
She leaves to cherish her memories: three daughters, Brenda
J. Little and Ida M. Little, both of Leighton, Alabama, and
Georgia M. Goodwin (Bobby) of Florence, Alabama; two
sons, George E. Little and Barry R. Little (Teresa), both of
Leighton, Alabama; one sister, Mrs. Annie P. Cole (Paul) of
Sheffield, Alabama; two sisters-in law, Ms. Dorothy Little, of
Decatur, Alabama, and Ms. Mae Helen Little, of Cherokee,
Alabama; one brother-in-law, Mr. Arthur B. Wade, of
Madison, Alabama; one aunt, Mrs. Olivia Lewis, of Florence,
Alabama; two loving and devoted nieces, Mrs. Mary King
Armstead (Thomas) and Mrs. Annie P. Williams (Joe L.);
15 Grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; nine great-greatgrandchildren;
and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives,
and friends.
