Lola Pruitt Obituary

Lola Cathryn (Terry) Pruitt was born January 15, 1954, to the late Mr. Emmitt Terry and late Mrs. Lula Mae (Thompson) Terry in Saginaw, Michigan. She departed this life on May 6, 2026, at age 72. As a child Lola grew up in Tuscumbia, Alabama; attended Trenholm High School the last African American High School in Tuscumbia before desegregation that would later integrate with Deshler High School while Lola was attending.

After graduating from Deshler High School, Lola relocated to Cleveland, Ohio with family and attended Cuyahoga Community College to pursue nursing. Due to starting a family with the father of her children, Mr. Joseph McInTosh, Lola held off on pursuing to be a nurse, but the skills she had learned while in school came in handy as she utilized those skills later after relocating back to Alabama in caring for her aunt, Annie Mae Thompson,  her mother, Lula Mae (Thompson) Terry,  grandfather, Harry Thompson, and several family friends.

In Lola's early professional career, she made Lee Jeans for H.D. Lee the American Lee Jeans Denim Brand, and later in her career retired after working 25 years for E.S. Robbins the American manufacturer of polymer plastic products used in offices, industrial, food services and equine facilities nationwide. After retiring, Lola relocated to the Atlanta area to be near her daughter Mary.

Lola was proceeded in death by her parents, Emmitt Terry and Lula Mae (Thompson) Terry; brother, Charles Terry; sister, Virginia (Terry) Hampton; son, Michael Terry – McInTosh; and ex-spouse, Aldrich Pruitt.

Lola survived by her daughter, Mary Burt; son-in-law, Desmond Burt; sister, Margaret Terry; cousins, Mirinda Terry, Denise Myrick, Pamela (Myrick) Hasan, and Ray Thompson; nephews,  Jason Terry, Darius Hampton, and Raylen Hampton; grandchildren, Dawez Amir McInTosh, Jada A'Shae' McInTosh, and Mikey O'Shea McInTosh; great-grandchild, Harlee Kade' McInTosh-Ricks; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Lola was truly one of a kind. She would share and give whatever she had to others if she was able to do so. She also loved to laugh, listen to music, travel with her daughter, go out to eat and try out new soul food restaurants and would dance while eating if the food was really good, watch the cooking channel, create recipes, read her bible, relax to gospel, bird watch, and sit on the front porch at sun-rise to drink her coffee and feel the wind on her face in which she called "feeling God's Breath".  Memories of her will be forever cherished in our hearts, and she will be forever loved and missed dearly.
