Lance Johnson Obituary

Lance Labraun Johnson was born December 25, 1989, in Andalusia, Alabama to the late Superintendent Walter Lewis Johnson and Mrs. Patricia Johnson.

He accepted Christ at a young age at the Revival Center COGIC of Florence and remained faithful in the church until his passing. In his youth, he recognized his gift of playing the piano by ear. He mastered this talent and became well known for his musical abilities on the organ and piano. He played for many local gospel choirs, groups, and events including Ascending Voices of UNA, the Orr Sisters, Fresh Wind, Living Word Community Church, and his home church, The Revival Center.

He was a 2008 graduate of Florence High School, where he was a member of the football and basketball and was known by his teachers and peers for his sense of humor. During his school days, he met the love of his life, Stephanie Martin, whom he shared 16 years of love with.

He attended the University of North Alabama where he studied Business and as he started his career in sales. His ability to “never meet a stranger” was pivotal in creating life-long relationships because he strived to help everyone he encountered.

In 2016, Lance married Stephanie Martin, and from this union, they welcomed two precious daughters who were the joy of Lance’s life, Peyton Gabrielle (3), and Madisyn Camille (5 mons). To Stephanie, Peyton, and Madisyn, Lance was a devoted husband and a loving father. He worked tirelessly to ensure that no need was left unmet. He was passionate about spending quality time with his family, presenting excellent music, and fully living life.

He departed this life on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at North Alabama Medical Center leaving a legacy of kindness, a genuine spirit, an outgoing personality, and a contagious and infectious laugh, that we all loved and will dearly miss. He is preceded in death by his father; late superintendent, Walter Lewis Johnson; grandmother, Lular Mae Cowan, and grandfathers Zollie Cowan and Robert Walter Johnson.

He leaves to cherish his memory:
His bride of six years, Stephanie Johnson; two daughters, Peyton Johnson, Madisyn Johnson; his nurturing mother, Patricia Johnson; two siblings, sister, Jasmine Johnson; brother, Aaron (Morgan) Johnson; nieces, Aubrey Johnson, Kaitlyn Johnson; grandmother, Annie Clara Johnson; father-in-law, Stevie (Deborah) Martin; sister and brother-in-law, Deonna (Dominic) Douglas; goddaughter and niece, Londyn Nelson; nephew, Dallas Douglas; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, family, and friends.
