James Edward Bennett, Sr., was born January
8, 1934, in Tishomingo, Mississippi, to the late
Charlie and Fannie Bennett and Robert Hodges.
James entered his eternal rest on Sunday, June 2,
2019, at NAMC in Florence, Alabama.
James confessed Christ as his Savior at Carters
Branch MB Church, and later united with Ekklesia
Ministries, serving faithfully as a deacon, and in his
later years, as an elder.
Following his high school education, James joined
the Armed Forces during the Korean Conflict in
1953. He was an avid fisherman, had a passion for
riding his motorcycle, and loved to keep his lawn
manicured. James was married to the late Lois
Bennett, and out of this union three sons were born,
Donald Ray Bennett, and preceding him in death,
James Bennett, Jr., and Carl (Dawn) Bennett
James leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife,
Zinia Bennett; adopted daughter and son, Lurene
(William) Martin and Elbert (Alice) Robinson;
brother, Christee (Ethel) Hodges; (extended
family) sisters-in-law, Janet (Harrison) Johnson,
Trina Williams, Tina (Charlie) Hart and Sabrina
(Lewis) Gordon; brothers-in-law, Mark Williams,
Terry Paterson and Hilton Germany; twenty-two
grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren;
and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
including, special lil cousin, Zariah Hooks.
Mr. Bennett will lie in the sanctuary one hour prior to the funeral service. Apostle Kobee Fitzgerald, Pastor
