Gladys Luster went home to be with the Lord on July 3, 2025. A devoted mother, widow, educator, sister, aunt, and cousin, she touched many lives with her warmth, strength, and dedication to family and friends.
Born to Robert and Lizzie Lee Davis on October 28, 1938, in Leighton, Alabama, Gladys inspired generations of students with her passion for learning and compassion for others as a Secondary Education teacher and College Professor.
Gladys was the loving wife of the late Reverend Ollie H. Luster whom she held dear throughout her life. Together, they built a home filled with love, laughter, and welcomed two children: Darryl and San. Her family was her greatest joy, and she poured her love into every moment spent with them.
As a sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, Gladys was a source of support, warmth, and wisdom. Her presence at family gatherings brought comfort and joy, and her quiet strength served as a steady anchor to those who knew and loved her.
Gladys grew up in the church and was a faithful member. She loved teaching Sunday School, participating in Vacation Bible School, and singing in the church choir.
She leaves to cherish her everlasting love and memories to:
her beloved son, Darryl Luster; daughter, San Luster (Eric Hardaway); three brothers, Walter (Joe) Davis, Willie B. (Bill) Davis, and Edgar Davis; five sister-in-Laws, Annie Davis, Edna Davis, Faye Davis, Georgia Davis, and Mary Wilson; brother-in-law, James Leon Douglas; nieces, nephews, cousins, church members, and a host of friends.
She will forever be loved and missed.
