Frederick Earl Rhodes

Frederick “Oaktree” Earl Rhodes, age 60, was born May 28, 1963, to Elvine and Arthur Rhodes. He departed this life on Sunday, October 22, 2023.

He accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Rock Primitive Baptist Church of Florence, Alabama, where he was member of the choir. He graduated in 1981 from Coffee High School in Florence, Alabama.

Fred was employed at Southwire Manufacturer Company, where he worked for 24 years until his health began to decline. In 1984, Fred Rhodes met Sheronda Cunningham, and they were the parents of three children. Later, Fred married Sheronda in 1996.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ida Brown Duster, Johnny L. Duster, Arthur Lee Rhodes, and Pearl Ferris; aunts, Estelle (Frank) Berry, Pearlene (Troy) Barnett; a brother, Randy Reeder; father-in-law, Jim Cunningham; brother-in-law, Terrance Cunningham; and a nephew, Jeremy Cunningham.

Fred is survived by his lovely wife, Sheronda Rhodes of Florence, AL; two daughters, Chinina and Aprilal Cunningham of Florence, AL; one son, Arthur Cunningham of Florence, AL; two granddaughters, Tajiria Ricks of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Brooklyn Cunningham of Florence, AL; one grandson, Bentley Cunningham of Florence, AL; mother, Elvine Rhodes of Florence, AL; one brother, Archie (Trecia) Rhodes of Douglasville, GA; mother-in-law, Mary Cunningham of Florence, AL; two sisters-in-law, Drucilla Cole of Florence, AL and Felicia Hubbard of Muscle Shoals, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other special relatives and friends.
