Edward Ford Obituary

Edward Louis Ford was born December 22, 1952, in Colbert County, Alabama, to Mr. Robert B. Ford and Mrs. Frankie Mae (Ray) Ford. He departed this life on December 2, 2023, at his residence in Florence, Alabama.

Edward, known to many as “Louis,” Ford, or Lil’ Tut (which he loved to hear), accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at an early age. In later years, Louis joined the Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, Florence, Alabama, under the leadership of his nephew, Rev. Trevor Crenshaw, and was a faithful member until his illnesses.

He served many years and retired from the U.S. Army National Guard where his duty allowed him, Jan, and Leslie to spend a brief time in Okinawa, Japan. Louis was employed by Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant in his earlier years and later retired from Florence Parks and Recreation. He had a unique love for his family and friends, but little did he know the softest spot of his heart was reserved for his great-grandbabies whom he affectionately called, “My Babies.” Louis loved conversing with people about world and life issues (whether in agreement or not), telling funny stories, tools (“piddling”, as he would say,  fixing things around the home), motorcycles, cars and trucks, and more. He enjoyed a full life.

Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Robert B. and Frankie M. (Ray) Ford, brothers, Robert G. Ford and Bobby Jean Ford, and one sister, Patsy Mae Ford Cooper.

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving, dedicated, devoted wife and caretaker: Janice M. Thompson Ford, one loving son: Leslie J. Ford both of Florence, Alabama; one granddaughter: Alexis Fuqua of Rogersville, Alabama; one grandson: Octavious Allen of Decatur, Alabama; three great-grandchildren whom he adored dearly: Keegan Fuqua, Kamryn Fuqua, and Kaleb Watkins all of Rogersville, Alabama; two brothers: Roosevelt Ford (Mosella) and Earnest Ford both of Leighton, Alabama; five sisters: Annie Ford Howlett of Town Creek, Alabama, Mattie Ford Johnson of Crown Point, Indiana, Barbara Ford Morris of Atlanta, Georgia, Rosa Ford Provience (Merrill) of Madison, Alabama, and Diane Ford Cobb (Jessie) of Muscle Shoals, Alabama; two sisters-in-law: Mosella Ford (Roosevelt) of Leighton, Alabama, Deborah Baugh (David) of Florence, Alabama, Faye Thompson of Lima, Ohio; brother-in-law: Anthony Thompson (Sharon) of Gadsden, Alabama; a devoted niece like a daughter Tia Crenshaw (Trevor); special devoted friend and cousin: Percy “Bo” and Edna Bowens; special friends: Jimmy Mitchell, Willie Madden, Willie Fuqua, and Carlton Smith. He leaves many memories to cherish with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
