Mr. Earnest Ray Carroll, Sr., formerly of Sheffield, Alabama, was born February 12, 1958, to the late Mr. Jessie James Carroll and Mrs. Junetta Seay Carroll.
He transitioned Saturday, June 28, 2025, in Lima, Ohio. He gave his life to Christ at an early age; he worshipped and was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. He was employed at Sheffield Recreation Center for 25 plus years.
Earnest was a people person with many friends, nieces and nephews who loved him. He took pride in driving the Daycare van with his sister, Jackie Carroll, and working with Pamela Armstead. He had a heart of gold and would do anything for his family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Jessie James Carroll; mother, Mrs. Junetta Seay Carroll; brothers, James Carroll, Jr., Michael Carroll; and sisters, Pearline Carroll Ford and Henrietta Carroll Hogan.
Earnest leaves to cherish his memories:
a loving wife, Loretta Carroll; three sons, Anthony Carroll of Muscle Shoals, AL, Earnest Carroll, Jr. of Muscle Shoals, AL, and D'Eric Barnett of Florence, AL; one daughter, D'Erin Barnett of Florence, AL; grandchildren, Emma Morgan, Jaqua Darby, Jai’Deric Barnett, and Kobe Wilson; one great grandchild, Tatyana Darby; three brothers, Larry (Donna) Carroll of Tuscumbia, AL, Tommie (Patricia) Carroll, and Arthur (Shirley) Carroll, all of Sheffield, AL; five sisters, Jessie Neloms of Muscle Shoals, AL, Brenda Carroll, Gloria Smith, Jacquelyn Carroll, and Vera Carroll, all of Sheffield, AL; a special friend, Alma Embry; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
