Doris Louise “Pretty” Goodloe entered this life on June 30, 1963. She was born to the late Susie Mae Ingram. Doris confessed to Christ at an early age and became a faithful member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Sheffield, where she served as a member of the usher board, choir, and the missionary society, in which she held leadership roles. She also served as a Sunday school teacher, VBS teacher, and in many other capacities within the church.
Doris attended Sheffield High School and later received a cosmetology degree from Shoals Community College. For over 30 years, as a licensed cosmetologist, she served the Shoals community, gaining faithful clients and friends.
In addition to her late mother, Susie Mae Ingram, Doris was preceded in death by her grandmother, Laura Mae Abernathy; her grandfather, Tom Abernathy; her aunt, Mae Laura Joyner; her uncles, Bobby Lee Abernathy, Tommy Lee Abernathy, Percy Lee Abernathy, her brother, Bobby Ray Abernathy; and sister Shirley Boyd.
Doris is survived by her loving husband, William Lewis Goodloe; one daughter De’Onna Vanti’ Goodloe; three sisters, Gayle Hampton (Billy), Barbara Abernathy, Teresa Abernathy; one brother, Anthony Abernathy (Marcia); two sisters-in-law, Lela Short, Jessie Cowan (Johnny); five brothers-in-law, Robert Goodloe Jr. (Patricia), Charles Goodloe, Empsie Goodloe (Monita), Simon Goodloe (Virginia), Roland Goodloe (Merita); dear friends Rosie Hogan, Brenda Acklin; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
