DeMylah Delyric Nixon Johnson was born January 2, 2008, to Mecko Johnson and Demetrius Nixon. Surviving birth only weighing 3 pounds, she was able to go home with her parents a month later. God had a plan for her life from the very beginning.
She confessed her belief in Christ and accepted Jesus as her savior at a youth fall retreat in October 2023. She was shocked that God really wanted her to be a part of his Kingdom. She attended Florence High School and was a hard worker in the food industry. She was so excited to get her first check.
She enjoyed spending time with her friends, laying on her mother’s bed and having long talks about life, going to football games, taking selfies, and helping her mother with her younger brother.
DeMylah was a loving daughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend. She was truly taken from us too soon and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Rosie M. Garner and Edna L. Nixon; and her stepmom, Bernice Carroll.
DeMylah leaves to cherish her memories:
her mother, Mecko (Prince) Johnson of Florence, AL; father, Demetrius Nixon of Leighton, AL; two brothers, Demontae Johnson and Demani Nixon of Florence, AL; one sister, Layla McDaniel of Florence, AL; two grandfathers, Michael Johnson of Muscle Shoals, AL and Gordon (JoAnn) Johnson of Leighton, AL; two aunts, Annie Johnson of Huntsville, AL and LaMeeka (Thomas) Marshall of Sheffield, AL; one uncle, Timothy Garner of Florence, AL; a special friend, Canira Carter; and host of great aunts and uncles, cousins and friends.
