Charles Wayne Savage, a native of Florence, Alabama, was born June 4, 1942, and transitioned on Saturday, April 13, 2024.
He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Emma Jean Savage, and father, William "Peter" Gresham.
Charles Wayne accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in the Seventh-Day Adventist faith. He was a member of the W.C. Handy Recreation Center Swim Team and will long be remembered for mastering the sport of swimming, without showing any sign of exhaustion. He would have been well-suited for an Olympic team if he had been given a chance.
He will be forever remembered for being a dedicated and supportive dad. His love of cars, motorcycles, drag races, and collecting coins were among his many hobbies. He also loved attending car shows.
Those left to forever cherish his memories are his loving children, Sharri Savage, Michael Savage, Tyron Johnson Savage, Roderick Savage, and Christopher Hill; Devoted sisters, Natalie Renee Gordon, and Fannie (Charles) Hough; brother, William (Glenda) Carl Gresham; 13 beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren; special devoted friend, Lewis Cannon; many cousins, relatives, and friends, including the Burrell-Slater Class of 1964.
