Bertha Mae Gadd (Smith) departed this life on Thursday, September 2, 2022, at Helen Keller Hospital, Sheffield, Alabama. Bertha was born March 15, 1938, in Landersville, Alabama, to the late Mack Smith and Maggie Davis Smith Davidson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Alexander Gadd; parents, Mack Smith and Maggie Davis Smith Davidson; one son, Corey Gadd; two grandchildren, Connie Gadd and Dominique Small; two brothers, Neal Smith and Macena Smith; and four sisters, Ruby Tucker, Willie Glen Smith, Lucy Brown and Mattie King. She leaves to cherish her memories: two sons, Wayne Gadd and Darryle Gadd of Sheffield, Alabama; three daughters, Avis Gadd (Greg) of Sheffield, Alabama, Charlotte Sterling (Q) of San Diego, California, and Monique Drew (Larry) of North Prince George, Virginia; one sister, Helen Walker (Collins) of Akron, Ohio; sister-in-law, Rosa Smith of Muscle Shoals; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; a devoted niece, Bridget Holland “her boo;” devoted friends, Shirley Hollingsworth, Martha Suggs, and Bonnie Fuqua; her friends at the Sheffield Senior Center; a good neighbor, Ada Bell Holland; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other friends. She was also an avid listener of WZZA Radio (gospel program)
