Obituary

AREA LEE MCDANIEL was born February 19, 1944, to L. C. and Lottie May Southward. She was born in Maud, Alabama. She departed this life on January 16, 2023, at North Alabama Medical Center. Area accepted Christ as her personal savior at Northside Church of Christ in Center Star, Alabama. She had a strong faith in the Lord and attended church regularly until services moved to online where she never missed watching on Sunday mornings. Area graduated from the Northwest-Shoals Community College Adults Education Program. Area was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was a very compassionate, selfless, and genuinely kind woman with a gentle soul. She was extremely well-liked by everyone who was blessed to have known her. She had a heart of gold and loved her family dearly. She was always willing to do anything to help anyone. She was loved and adored by members of her community where she resided for over 45 years. She was an amazing, self-taught seamstress, and she loved baking cakes. She was preceded in death by her loving son, James Darrell McDaniel. She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving children, Sharon McDaniel of Athens, AL, Sherry Stephens of Trinity, AL, Robin (Eric) Coffey of Hillsboro, AL, Cassandra Gideon of Huntsville, AL, Franklin McDaniel (Nicole) of Las Vegas, NV, and Dennis McDaniel of Trinity, AL, dearly loved son, Derrick McDaniel of Killen, AL; loving siblings, Ella Farris (the late Henry Lee) of Florence, AL, Mamie Mason of Killen, AL, Pearline Love of Syracuse, NY, Minnie Southward of Florence, AL, Shirley Sullivan (Edward) of Cherokee, AL, Martha Bonds (Harry) of Lewisville, TX, Jeffrey Southward (Zera) of Port St. Lucie, FL, Royce Southward of Tishomingo, MS, Bobby Southward (Vickie) of Tishomingo, MS, Bennie Southward of Corinth, MS, and Ricky Southward of Iuka, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, friends, and neighbors.
