Antoine Devon King

Antoine Devon King was born on March 11, 1979 to Dorothy King and Curtis Lee Ricks in Sheffield, Alabama.   Antoine moved to Detroit, MI with his mom and sister,  Lakesia at the tender age of one years old. Antoine was educated in the Detroit Public School District, graduating from Central High school in 1998. He ventured back to Alabama to attend college and later received his master’s degree from Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University (AAMU). Antoine loved Alabama and made it his home after graduation, frequently traveling to Detroit throughout the years to visit with family and friends.

Antoine was a hard worker, who loved people and family. He would give you the shirt off his back and not expect anything in return. He would encourage you and was always supportive, sending daily scriptures to those he loved.

Antoine loved to cook, a trait inherited from his mother, Dorothy. He was known for his amazing southern cooking skills. He would cook huge meals for family and friends effortlessly.  Another trait inherited from his mom was his green thumb. Antoine had the most beautiful plants that grew to the ceiling!! He was always so proud of his plants and often posted pictures on social media of their growth.  Antoine was a dapper dresser, a cologne connoisseur, who loved to shop. You name it, he had it!!! 

Antoine accepted Christ at an early age and continued serving God faithfully as a member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, under the direction of Pastor Jerry Reeves, whom he loved dearly. He was a dedicated member, attending EVERY Sunday, continuing virtually faithfully during the pandemic of 2020.

Antoine worked as a Branch manager for several years until he started having complications with his health, after contracting the Coronavirus twice within a short period of time. 

Antoine departed this life suddenly on August 16, 2023.  Both parents Dorothy King and Curtis Ricks (Mary Ricks) preceded him in death.  He leaves to cherish his memory four siblings; LaKesia King, Reginald King, Darecus Mullins, Lanorris Ricks; three nieces, one nephew; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and his extended Sturtevant St. family and friends of Detroit, MI.
