Mrs. Annie Irene Jackson Hankins was born July 1, 1953, in Colbert County, Alabama, to the late Earl Jackson and Effie Lee Jackson. She was the youngest of five children born to this union.
She confessed hope in Jesus Christ at an early age and joined Mount Pleasant M.B. Church. She later joined Cave Springs M.B. Church, Muscle Shoals, Alabama, under Rev. Frank Roach, Sr.
She attended Leighton Training School. She worked for Wayne Farms in Decatur, Alabama, where she retired after 31 years.
She was a devoted member of Cave Springs Missionary Baptist Church, Muscle Shoals, Alabama. She loved her Church family and was a member of the Mother Board and Usher Board until her health declined.
Annie was known for her “crazy” sense of humor. She loved her entire family and always verbally expressed it. She enjoyed going to yard sales, cooking, watering her flowers, and picking Turnip greens.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to Charlie Frank Hankins, Sr., the love of her life, on March 5, 1985. Their union of marriage lasted 40 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Effie Lee Jackson; sister, Ella Horrison; brothers, Jerry Jackson, William Jackson, and Rickey Jackson.
She leaves to cherish her memories: Her loving and devoted husband, Mr. Charlie Hankins, Sr. of Muscle Shoals, Alabama; children: a loving and devoted daughter, JoAnn (Anthony) Whiteside of Douglasville, Georgia; two sons, Charlie (Celia) Hankins, Jr. of Phil Cambell, Alabama; and Carlos Hankins of Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
